Health and Safety

Health and safety for children is paramount for the well-being of baby and all caregivers. There are child safety centres that will have information and pamphlets regarding keeping small children safe in the home. It is good to read and implement those measures and also to take note of any current updates.

In my opinion, there is nothing that can take the place of proper supervision of small children. However, there are many things caregivers can do around the home to minimize the risk.

The following are some of the Health and Safety Issues for the well-being of baby and children in your Home:

  • Turn hot water system to 50 degrees.
  • Install leakage circuit breaker and smoke detectors.
  • Cover exposed power points with protectors.
  • Use non-slip mats for slippery floors.
  • Make sure cords from blinds and curtains are out of baby's reach.
  • Make sure fences and gates have locks or safety catches.
  • When reversing your car, make doubly sure that babies and small children are not behind the car.
  • Use small adjustable gates to fence off different rooms. To view some safety gates please click Here.
